Blowing Warm? Time for an Air Con Service

Car air con systems lose refrigerant naturally over time. When cooling drops off, the fix is usually a regas — but sometimes there's a leak or a component fault behind it. We do a proper system check before charging, so you're not just paying to leak the same gas out again.

Signs Your Air Con Needs Service

Air isn't as cold as it used to be
Air con only cools on the highway
Musty smell when the fan starts
Weak airflow from the vents
Compressor is noisy or won't engage
Hasn't been serviced in 2+ years

Book an Air Con System Check first if you're not sure — cheaper than a wasted regas.

Our Air Con Services

Air Con Service (Regas)

Full regas — evacuate the old refrigerant, vacuum-test the system for leaks, and recharge to the correct weight with the right refrigerant for your vehicle. Also lubricates the compressor.

Air Con System Check

System check without a full regas — tests pressures, compressor operation, vent temperature and looks for obvious leaks. The right call if you want to know what's wrong first.

Air Con FAQs

How often should I regas my car's air con?

Most systems lose enough refrigerant to justify a regas every 2–3 years. If yours is cooling well, you don't need to regas on schedule — but if performance is dropping, don't wait.

Should I do a system check or go straight to a regas?

If your air con has always been fine and is just less cold, a regas is usually the right call. If it has failed suddenly, is noisy, or has been recharged recently and lost cooling again, book a System Check first — there's likely a leak or component issue.

Do you service newer cars using R1234yf refrigerant?

Yes — we service both the older R134a and the newer R1234yf refrigerant systems. Newer cars (roughly post-2017) usually run R1234yf; we'll confirm which one your vehicle uses before service.

Why does my air con smell musty?

Usually bacteria growing on a damp evaporator, or a dirty cabin filter. Cabin filter replacement often fixes it — we can do both at the same time as an air con service.

"Very thorough and fair, Howard has picked things up that would have cost a lot more later if missed! Great service and he explains everything. We moved interstate and the new mechanic commented on how well the car had been looked after. 10/10"
